Senior Accountant / Financial Advisor

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Accountant / Financial Advisor to take full responsibility for the financial management of the company. This is a key role within the business, requiring a trustworthy, detail-oriented professional who can manage day-to-day financial operations while providing accurate reporting and financial insight to support strategic decision-making.
The successful candidate will play a central role in overseeing company finances, ensuring strong cash flow management, maintaining profitability, and supporting the wider team with financial guidance.
Key Responsibilities
* Full responsibility for company finances and financial controls
* Prepare and manage profit and loss reports, balance sheets, and financial statements
* Generate financial reports using Sage 200
* Monitor and manage cash flow
* Oversee and maintain debtor and creditor ledgers
* Chase overdue accounts in a professional and timely manner
* Conduct bank reconciliations
* Monitor margins and support cost control across the business
* Handle pricing enquiries and carry out detailed costing analysis
* Process wages and salaries
* Prepare and submit VAT returns
* Manage inter-company accounts
* Make bank payments, including international payments
* Post invoices and statements accurately
* Field telephone calls for the accounts department from customers and suppliers
About You
We are looking for a candidate who is:
* Highly trustworthy and discreet with sensitive financial information
* Experienced in using Sage 200
* Strong in financial reporting and analysis
* Organised, methodical, and detail-focused
* Confident in managing cash flow and financial controls
* Professional and polite with excellent telephone manners
* Able to communicate clearly with customers, suppliers, and colleagues
* Willing to work collaboratively as part of a team
* Proactive in identifying efficiencies and improvements
Qualifications & Experience
* Proven experience in a senior accounting or financial advisory role
* Strong knowledge of VAT, payroll, reconciliations, and financial reporting
* Experience managing debtor and creditor accounts
* A recognised accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent) preferred but not essential depending on experience
