Student Nurse Bank Healthcare Assistant

This position is for Nursing Student's with County Durham and Darlington Foundation Trust who are looking to join our Healthcare Assistant Bank Band 3

Main duties of the job
-To assist in admitting patients to the ward, completing demographicdetails and recording base-line observations.
-To provide care to patients following instructions in the care plan,programme or pathway.
-To demonstrate competence in the accurate recording of routine clinicalobservations.
-To recognise abnormal recordings or signs of change in a patientscondition and report changes to a registered nurse.
-To assist patients meet their personal care needs (includes hygiene,mobility, nutrition, elimination and comfort).
-To assist patients to eat and drink in a sensitive and supportivemanner.
-To accurately record information on patient food charts and fluidbalance charts, reporting concerns to a registered nurse.
-To assist clinical team with data entry, filing and maintaining accuratedocumentation of care.
-To assist in escorting, transferring and discharging patients, ensuringall property is packed and the bed area is prepared for the next patient.
-To ensure treatment rooms and ward areas are adequately stocked andtidy.
-To assist in resolving conflict by responding to concerns and complaintsin a positive manner.

Job responsibilities
The postholder will support the team in providing care to patients acting under thedirection of a registered nurse.
Able to communicate effectively with patients,visitors and other staff.

Qualifications
* Relevant NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience.
* Care Certificate or willingness to complete within first 6 months of commencement in post.
* GCSE equivalent in English and Mathematics
* Short Course relevant to undertake patient and clinical care duties.
