The Role
:
As a Senior Airworthiness Engineer, you’ll have a role that is out of the ordinary, responsible for determining the route to certification for modifications to military and civil aircraft.
Day-to-day, you'll compile the certification document set and call on Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) for compliance statements for all aspects of the design. You will then act as an independent technical reviewer, providing support to all engineering activities - verifying compliance to the processes outlined in the certification plan, whilst providing guidance to all stakeholders and contributors. You will make submissions for changes to the regulator to ensure smooth and timely approval.
You will also:
1. Liaise between the design organisation, CAA and MoD with respect to all aspects of Type Investigation and create reports about progress and announcement of scheduled tests in due time
2. Issue guidelines for documenting compliance against the various CS's, Def Stans or other appropriate design specifications
3. Advise of all departments of the design organisation in all questions regarding airworthiness, environmental protection approvals and certification
4. Prepare the Type Investigation programme and co-ordinate of all tasks related to Type Investigation in concurrence with the CAA and MoD
5. Ensure co-operation in preparing test programmes needed for demonstration of compliance. Establish the compliance checklist and update for changes
6. Ensure the initiation of activities as a response to failure (accident/incident/in-service experience) evaluation and complaints from the operation and providing of information to the Agency in case of airworthiness impairment (continuing airworthiness)
Essential experience of the Senior Airworthiness Engineer:
7. A good working knowledge of an aircraft engineering discipline and clear understanding of civil and/or military aircraft systems
8. Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
9. Demonstrable experience of delivering to budget and tight timescales
10. Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Qualifications of the Senior Airworthiness Engineer:
11. Qualification in Aeronautical, Aviation, Aerospace, Electrical, Electronic or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
