Summary/Purpose
Process Automation has become a Main focus driver of JTEKT North America’s Manufacturing strategy.
The primary role of this position within the Mechatronics group is to bring an Engineering mindset to our internal Project Management, Customer interface and Outside Machine builder communications needed to ensure smooth Automation Launches. Secondary role will be Technical Process Engineering as required to support Automation and Machine Overhaul activities
Essential Duties and Accountabilities:
1. Interface with Internal JTEKT Mechatronics groups as a point of contact on Automation Projects
2. Serve as an Automation project manager to JTEKT Facilities and follow up on their deliverable status
3. Act as Bridge between the Automation group and Machine Tool Builders to ensure JTEKT Automation Standards are met before Runoff of equipment
4. Update / manage Schedules and Report out as requested to Management
5. Act as Liaison to JTEKT Production Administration
6. Help Control Documentation of Automation projects and ensure release of print package to plant
7. Work with Mechatronics team to help ensure Compliance requirements are met
8. Assist JTEKT Facilities with the CPC Process required for existing Automation Projects
9. Conduct process capability studies, calculate statistical information, and interpret results on machine setup and runoffs in Mechatronics
10. Understand and follow the JTEKT Quality gate systems (including development of pFMEA, process drawings, process capability confirmation, etc.) as it relates to Automation. Help internal Mechatronics group become aware and fluent in using this system
11. CAD / Solid works experience to assist in developing automated Production line Layouts
12. Travel to JTEKT manufacturing plants as needed to interface with Engineering staff on Automation Projects

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
•Job will deal with developing and managing Automation projects for existing and brand-new processes. This requires good problem-solving skills, people interface “soft” skills, the ability to search out existing and new technology and a lot of Patience.
•Candidate must have good mechanical aptitude and Controls and Robotics systems understanding
•Candidate must also be comfortable in a mfg. environment and be able to work effectively with people of various backgrounds and roles.
•Experience in equipment standards, purchase, install, and runoff.
Education and Experience:
•Mechanical Engineering Degree (BSME or MSME) with 5+ year’s diverse manufacturing experience

The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to manufacturing areas which require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection.
•Occasional lifting is required – up to 50 lbs
•Domestic and International travel by automobile and plane required approximately 20% of time.
