Requirements
You will have a Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject area and the ability to engage in continuing professional development.
Responsibilities
1. Lead and coordinate Dundee's carbon, climate, and sustainability programmes in line with Council and Government policies.
2. Develop, implement, and review the Council's long-term climate change mitigation and sustainable development policies, strategies, and plans.
3. Ensure that the Council is an exemplar in these fields.
4. Lead the early-stage development of potential renewable energy projects, including preparing business cases and funding applications.
5. Promote and raise awareness of carbon, climate, and sustainable development issues within the Council, its Community Planning partners, and the wider Dundee community.
The Individual
* Possess an excellent knowledge of climate change policy and practice, with a proven record of innovation and leading partnerships to deliver corporate policies/projects.
* Experience in leading a team, advising and supporting elected members and senior contacts, and managing staff and financial resources.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, Word, Excel.
* High-level communication skills, both written and oral.
* Experience delivering detailed presentations to senior representatives from external bodies and leading multi-disciplinary meetings/groups.
* Strategic and corporate awareness, advocacy, influencing skills, and effective proposal presentation at senior levels.
* Strong analytical skills, with the ability to explore, evaluate, interpret information, and engage effectively with stakeholders.
* Commitment to learning and development, with flexibility to work outside office hours and travel as required.
