Working within a highly specialised production environment, the business manufactures premium, technically‑engineered textile products used globally across defence and aerospace applications. As part of continued investment in equipment and capability, they are seeking a skilled engineer with hands‑on experience maintaining, repairing, and optimising industrial sewing machinery.
Position Overview:
As a Sewing Machine Engineer working Monday to Thursday on days, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, accuracy, and performance of their sewing equipment. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys precision mechanics, thrives in a hands‑on environment, and values a stable four‑day working week.
If you have strong technical expertise in sewing machine maintenance or similar fine mechanical equipment, this could be an ideal next step.
This is what you'll be doing:
Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance on a range of industrial sewing machines and production equipment.
Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults to minimise downtime.
Performing machine timing, tensioning, stitch adjustments, part replacements, and full mechanical rebuilds.
Ensuring all sewing equipment operates to high accuracy and quality standards.
Supporting continuous improvement projects to enhance equipment performance.
Working collaboratively with production and engineering teams to ensure seamless workflow.
Complying with strict health & safety requirements and site procedures.
The experience you'll bring to the team:
Previous experience as a Sewing Machine Engineer or within a similar precision mechanical environment.
Strong mechanical fault‑finding and repair skills (electrical experience beneficial).
Hands‑on experience maintaining industrial sewing machines (essential or highly desirable).
A proactive approach with excellent attention to detail.
Recognised engineering qualifications (NVQ, HNC, apprenticeship, or equivalent).
Ability to work independently within a small, highly skilled team.
Willingness to work a Monday-Thursday days pattern.
