Subsidence Claims Specialist – Role Overview This role sits at the heart of our technical claims operation, providing expert guidance on subsidence issues affecting domestic and commercial properties. You’ll take ownership of your own portfolio of claims, using your professional judgement, engineering knowledge, and problem‑solving skills to drive fair, timely and high‑quality outcomes for customers. Working from a home‑based environment, you’ll combine technical expertise with strong communication skills to support policyholders during what can be a stressful time, ensuring they feel informed, reassured, and treated fairly throughout the process. What will your day look like: What You’ll Be Doing Managing a varied caseload of domestic and commercial subsidence claims, ensuring all service level agreements are consistently met. Assessing, validating, settling or declining claims within your delegated authority, always applying sound technical reasoning and insurance liability principles. Diagnosing structural defects and the causes of damage using information gathered by surveyors, suppliers and other specialists— Knowledge and Abilities: A recognised professional building qualification (e.g., MICE, MRICS, MCIOB, MIStructE, MCABE) or active progression toward one. Relevant experience will also be considered. Strong technical knowledge of structural defects and subsidence‑related issues. The ability to diagnose building damage remotely using supplied evidence. Experience within the insurance industry and a solid understanding of liability considerations. Confident negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to gain agreement from multiple stakeholders. A problem‑solving mindset, able to evaluate complex information and make sound decisions. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong organisational and time‑management abilities, with the capacity to prioritise effectively. High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering quality outcomes. A flexible, self‑motivated approach and the ability to work independently.
