The Deputy Treasurer plays a vital role in ensuring the financial health and sustainability of DorSAR, a volunteer-led charity that supports emergency services in search and rescue operations across Dorset.

What are we looking for?
Skills & Attributes Strong financial acumen and experience in accounting or financial management. Familiarity with charity finance and governance (or willingness to learn). Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders. Commitment to DorSAR's mission and values as a volunteer-led emergency support organisation. Time Commitment Flexible, but includes attending trustee meetings and supporting financial planning throughout the year.
What will you be doing?
Key Responsibilities Financial Oversight Maintain an overview of DorSAR's finances, ensuring financial viability and compliance with charity commission regulations. Budgeting & Reporting Prepare annual budgets, monitor income and expenditure, and regularly report financial status to the Trustees. Record Keeping Ensure accurate financial records are kept and effective financial procedures are in place. Fundraising Support Collaborate with fundraising, PR and operations teams to manage donations, grants, and other income sources. Strategic Advice Advise trustees on financial implications of strategic decisions and risk management. Compliance Liaise with auditors or independent examiners and ensure timely submission of financial reports to regulatory bodies such as The Charity Commission.
