Job Overview

We are seeking a Finance Officer who will play a central role in maintaining the financial stability, transparency, and sustainability of Caafi Health CIC & Care Limited.

The post-holder will be responsible for managing the organisation's day-to-day finances, ensuring effective budget monitoring, preparing accurate financial reports, and supporting compliance with statutory and funder requirements. The role involves working closely with programme leads and the senior leadership team to provide timely financial insights that inform decision-making and long-term planning.

This is a hands-on role that requires excellent attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to balance routine transactional work with more analytical tasks. The Finance Officer will also contribute to strengthening financial systems and processes, helping the organisation meet its strategic objectives and support our mission to reduce health inequalities.

Responsibilities

Budget Monitoring & Analysis

* Review budgets against forecasts and report variances to senior leadership.
* Identify financial risks and recommend actions to improve performance and cost control.
* Support leadership with clear financial insights for planning and decision-making.

Project Budget Management

* Track project expenditure, ensuring correct allocation and funder compliance.
* Prepare financial updates and forecasts for internal and external reporting.
* Work with project managers to address financial risks and support funding applications.

Payroll Administration

* Manage monthly payroll, including tax, NI, and pension contributions.
* Maintain accurate records for staff changes, starters, and leavers.
* Reconcile payroll with accounts and resolve payroll queries.

Accounts Payable & Receivable

* Process invoices and ensure accurate coding and authorisation.
* Monitor income from grants, contracts, and services.
* Oversee staff expense claims, ensuring policy compliance.

Cash Flow & Financial Planning

* Prepare cash flow forecasts and highlight potential shortfalls.
* Coordinate with teams to align spending with available funds.

Financial Reporting & Compliance

* Produce monthly management accounts and assist with year-end reporting.
* Support external audits and maintain compliance with funders and regulations.

Systems & Internal Controls

* Improve financial processes, systems, and internal controls.
* Maintain audit trails and support implementation of finance software.

Collaboration & Support

* Provide finance guidance to non-finance teams and budget holders.
* Act as key contact for finance queries and liaise with external accountants.

Requirements

Essential

* AAT Level 4 or equivalent (minimum).
* 2+ years' finance experience, ideally in charity, health, or care settings.
* Strong skills in budget monitoring, variance analysis, and management reporting.
* Experience in payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and cash flow management.
* Proficient in Sage, QuickBooks, or Xero, with advanced Excel skills.
* Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance staff.
* High accuracy, attention to detail, and capability to prioritise workload.
* Commitment to confidentiality, integrity, and professional standards.

Desirable

* Studying towards or part-qualified ACCA/CIMA (or equivalent).
* Experience with grant funding, reporting to funders, and managing restricted/unrestricted income.
* Knowledge of charity accounting and statutory reporting.
* Experience in improving financial systems or processes.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £28,500.00-£32,000.00 per year
