This is an exciting opportunity to join the London Boroughof Bromley Public Health Department as a Consultant in Public Health. This is afull-time post.
We are a relatively small but close-knit team, and we workin an integrated way across the Council and the ICB. We have fostered goodrelationships with colleagues within the Council, the NHS and also across theSouth East London.
Main duties of the job
You will provide professional public health leadership and expertise to the Council, the ICB and other stakeholders in the following key areas of Public Health practice:Disease Prevention, Healthcare Public Health, NHS Health Checks Programme.
You must have a GMC, GDC, or UKPHR Public Health specialist registration. or be eligible for registration within six months of interview.You will be expected to have the skills and experience to lead across the full spectrum of public health and hold a work plan with specific lead areas of responsibility. You will carry important leadership responsibilities for key areas both within the Council and externally. You will need to be a strong team player and will have direct responsibility for a team of staff and be an authorised budget holder.
You will have responsibility for development, implementation and delivery of national, regional and local policies, developing inter-agency and interdisciplinary strategic plans and programmes.

Job responsibilities
The post is responsiblefor covering a portfolio of specialist public health functions:
* Leading on disease prevention (in particularthe CVD prevention) and developing cross-agency strategic plans for this portfolioarea.
* Provide strategicleadership for the NHS Health Checks programme, including commissioning andmonitoring performance, managing budget and team.
* Leading on healthcarepublic health for the department, working with the SEL ICB colleagues
* Ensuring the delivery of high quality diseasesurveillance, response and support systems.
* Deputise for the Director of Public Health asnecessary.
* Support the London-wide andSE London approach to specific joint programmes of work where relevant to theirexpertise
* Provide expert public health advice to LocalAuthority commissioners, including Public Health commissioners and undertakedirect commissioning and procurement where relevant.
* Taking responsibility for the trainingobligations of the directorate by supervising and supporting Public Health andGP registrars on placement within the department in liaison with other seniorcolleagues.
* Support the Director of Public Health in theprovision of expert public health advice to the Council, SEL ICB and partneragencies as required; presenting at meetings and attending the SEL ICB andCouncil meetings and committees as required.

Qualifications
* MFPH by examination, by exemption or by assessment.
* Inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register/GDC Specialist List/UK Voluntary Register (UKPHR) for Public Health Specialists, or be eligible for registration within six months of interview.
* If included in the GMC Specialist Register/GDC Specialist List in a specialty other than public health medicine/dental public health, candidates must have equivalent training and/or appropriate experience of public health medicine practice.
* Applicants must meet minimum CPD requirements (i.e. be up to date) in accordance with Faculty of Public Health requirements or other recognised body.
