Senior Project Manager - Reading, Berkshire, RG1 8DBContract: PermanentSalary: £67,000 to £88,000 per annum, depending on experience + £5,800 car allowanceMake an impact for Thames Water in London and the Thames Valley and improve our infrastructure for local communities, customers and the environment.We’re looking for a Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of a portfolio of complex planned and emergency infrastructure projects. You’ll lead projects from the start - engaging with procurement, engineering and other functions, then work closely with your team of Project Managers, contractors and internal teams to drive performance. This role demands a flexible, proactive, hands-on leader with the determination and enthusiasm to make a real impact. You’ll champion health, safety, and environmental excellence while delivering outstanding results for local communities. What you’ll be doing as a Senior Project ManagerDeveloping and delivering optimised projects to achieve all regulatory, statutory and internal outputs, deadlines and targets.Engage with Asset Management. Engineering and Operations; identify synergies and use lessons learned from previous projects to agree on the most effective solutions.Inform business planning of delivery timescales and costs to execute worksDelivering successful technical solutions that provide optimal value for money on a capital and whole life cost basis.Managing and developing the project team in a culture of accountability and achievementLeading a customer-focused culture, unrelenting in its pursuit of excellence in service delivery to both internal and external customers.Proactively ensuring every customer touch point is a positive experience to remember.Maintain strong external stakeholder relationships to actively protect and enhance Thames Water’s reputation with external customers and communities.Establish and continuously promote a proactive health, safety & environment culture across the Project and our service providersDelivering sustainable financial out-performance against approved budgetsCommercially managing all contract matters to achieve the optimal outcome for Thames Water.Location: Hybrid – 2/3 days a week on-site or at a Thames Water office location, with flexibility to travel within London and the Thames Valley.Working Hours: 36 hours a week, Monday to Friday.Salary: £67,000 to £88,000 per annum, depending on experience + £5,800 car allowance.What you should bring to the roleTo thrive in this role, the essential criteria you’ll need is:Chartered Engineer or substantial experience in a similar role.An experienced Construction Senior Project Manager – with a background in delivering solution in complex, regulated environments, ideally water or utilities.Understanding of the development of design, construction and operation of infrastructure or non-infrastructure projects.Experience in leading the health and safety performance of the team to ensure 3-zero targets are met.A proactive, hands-on leader with the determination and enthusiasm to make a real impact.Commercially astute, able to negotiate, develop strong contractual relationships and drive results with Tier 1 Contractors.The ability to multitask and manage several multi-million construction projects.Excellent communication and listening skills with an engaging and open approach.Prepared to travel and work across a number of sites.Nice-to-haves that would make you stand out:Previous experience in the Water industryWhat’s in it for you?Join us in this challenging role and make a positive impact on the environment and local communities.Competitive salary from £67,000 to £88,000 per annum26 days holiday per year, increasing to 30 with the length of service (plus bank holidays)Car AllowancePerformance-related pay plan directly linked to company performance measures and targetsGenerous Pension Scheme through AONPrivate Medical Health CareAccess to lots of benefits to help you take care of you and your family’s health and wellbeing, and your finances – from annual health MOTs and access to physiotherapy and counselling, to Cycle to Work schemes, shopping vouchers and life assurance.Find out more about our benefits and perksWho are we?We’re the UK’s largest water and wastewater company, with more than 16 million customers relying on us every day to supply water for their taps and toilets.
