About the role:
PwC's Alternative Investment Funds (AIF) team sits within our wider Financial Services Tax team. The team consists of tax, legal and regulatory specialists focusing on assisting alternative investment fund managers with a range of services across their business, covering the manager, the key people, the funds, investors and investments.
Whilst the team is UK based, the nature of the AIF industry means that a large amount of our work is international meaning there are many opportunities to work with the wider PwC AIF network.
As a Manager you will work as part of a team to provide excellent quality advisory and compliance services to a high-profile portfolio of both UK and multinational clients. You will have the opportunity to work on a range of AIF clients, covering strategies including Private Equity, Private Credit, Infrastructure, Hedge Funds and Real Estate.
You will be given the opportunity to develop your skills, drive your ambition and work with experienced Partners, Directors and Senior Managers across the team. The team will provide you with the opportunity to put into practice your tax technical skills in a stimulating and challenging environment.
What your days will look like:
1. The alternative investment funds industry is dynamic, technically demanding and offers opportunities to work on large complex international projects as well as interesting UK tax matters.
2. You will be responsible for helping to manage a portfolio of clients, taking responsibility for researching and summarising technical analysis on a broad range of issues covering the manager/advisor, the fund, the fund executives, investors, investments and tax reporting.
3. You will work closely with other parts of the business, including the wider Financial Services Tax team and Deals tax and international PwC member firms.
4. You will be responsible for building close relationships with a wide range of clients, working as part of a team to deliver the full suite of AIF propositions to clients.
5. You will have key relationship responsibilities for tax compliance work that is delivered from our compliance centres, with responsibility for liaising with the compliance centre for a portfolio of clients by participating in client meetings, ensuring timetable adherence, supporting the compliance team with any tax analysis before undertaking a technical review of the work prepared.
6. You will coach and support junior members of the team, encouraging everyone to have a voice and inviting opinions from all.
This role is for you if:
7. You have strong compliance and advisory focused tax experience in both UK Income and Corporate Tax.
8. You are interested in building strong client relationships, owning day-to-day deliverables and managing and developing junior team members.
9. You are commercially and operationally proactive and agile and are keen to work in a fast paced, exciting and ever-changing environment, with the support of experienced Partners, Directors and Senior Managers.
10. You have a track record of delivering quality work for clients, demonstrating an understanding of the client's business and relevant professional standards and maintaining excellent client relationships. Ideally you will have practical experience of working within one or more of the asset classes (private equity, hedge funds, private credit), but this is not essential.
11. You possess an accounting or tax qualification (or an international equivalent).
