Position: Janitor
Contract Type: Temporary
Working Pattern: Full Time (Monday to Friday, between 7am - 3pm and 8am - 4pm)
Driving Required: Yes
Salary: £12.64 per hour
About the Role:
As a Janitor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our facilities are clean, safe, and well-maintained. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
General Portering Duties: Move furniture, manage deliveries, and handle laundry with care.
Cleaning Responsibilities:
- Maintain grounds and car park areas.
- High-level cleaning, carpet shampooing, and wall cleaning.
- Stripping and sealing floor surfaces with various equipment.
- Replenishing supplies in restrooms and kitchens.
Basic Maintenance Tasks:
- Replace light bulbs, fix curtain rails, and mount shelves.
- Handle minor repairs and redecorating projects.
- Ensure equipment is in safe working order and report any faults.
Health & Safety Compliance:
- Promote a safe working environment by adhering to health and safety policies.
- Conduct basic recording and checking functions like fire alarm tests and safety checks.
Team Support:
- Provide cover for colleagues and assist in training new staff as needed.
- Set up and break down rooms for seminars and meetings.
Essential Criteria:
To be successful in this role, you must meet the following criteria:
Proven experience as a janitor, caretaker, handyman, or porter in a medium to large organisation.
Knowledge of basic maintenance and minor repair tasks.
Familiarity with cleaning equipment and methods, including high-level and carpet cleaning.
Physical fitness to perform lifting, loading, and equipment handling tasks.
Ability to carry out basic recording and checking functions (training provided).
Strong understanding of health and safety regulations.
A good attendance and performance record.
A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
