Flagships is building the attention market for financial services .
We have developed a proprietary machine learning model that identifies how retail investors form interest in the content shared by asset managers. Our core product, the Flagships Profile, is half personalized microsite, half PDF/document viewer. It adapts dynamically to each individual user, presenting information in the sequence most likely to capture attention, sustain engagement, and build understanding of investment opportunities.
As our model improves, we will disseminate material at the block level, in the exact order that best suits each user. Our principal objective is to drive interaction — search, highlight, zoom, and explore — because attention is the foundation of education and
influence in financial markets. For this reason, design and frontend engineering are central to the success of our company.
The Role:
We are hiring a Founding Frontend Engineer to take full ownership of the Flagships user interface. This is not an integration role. It is an opportunity to build complex systems from first principles, at both the rendering and application layers. You will be responsible
for developing two critical surfaces of our platform:
The Investor Experience — Document Intelligence Canvas:
For retail investors, Flagships is the entry point to complex financial information. You will build a custom, high-performance PDF/document viewer that transforms static reports into an adaptive, interactive profile.
Rendering Engine: Architect a solution using the Canvas API and Web Workers to maintain a consistent 60fps experience.
Performance at Scale: Implement virtualization and memory management strategies to handle thousands of pages without compromise.
Interactivity: Support precise text selection, multi-layer annotations, search, zoom, and deep-linking — ensuring that every interaction is smooth, reliable, and engaging.
The Client Experience — AI-Powered Insight Engine:
For asset managers, Flagships delivers a level of audience intelligence that has never been available before. You will build the interface through which our clients query and visualize how investors are engaging with their materials.
Generative Visualization: Design a system that produces dynamic charts and graphs in response to client queries, revealing patterns in attention and consideration.
Audience Intelligence: Present insights on how investors search, highlight, zoom, and explore, giving clients a clear picture of engagement and opportunity.
Scalable Infrastructure: Handle complex asynchronous states and large datasets with precision, ensuring analysis is delivered in real time.
Requirements:
We are seeking an engineer with a proven ability to solve complex technical problems and deliver production-grade systems.
Core Expertise:
Low-level rendering: Deep knowledge of the HTML Canvas API, Web Workers, and virtualization techniques.
Visualization: Experience building dynamic, query-driven visualization systems (D3.js or equivalent).
Asynchronous state management: Mastery of JavaScript concurrency and experience with libraries such as TanStack Query or SWR.
Modern frameworks: Several years of experience with React or Vue, including advanced state management (Zustand, Redux, Pinia).
TypeScript and tooling: Strong command of type-safe programming and modern build systems (Vite, Webpack).
