Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated nurse to join our experienced and dynamic team at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust. You will be a registered nurse with at least 5 years post-registration experience, including 2 years in an infection control role. The ability to work collaboratively to empower and facilitate effective infection control practices within the Trust is essential.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a small team are vital. A working knowledge of computers and IT, with a willingness to develop further skills, is required.
The Infection Prevention and Control Team (IPCT) provides services across the Trust and community sites, including service level agreements with local hospices. We are committed to improving infection control standards through various initiatives and campaigns, emphasizing the importance of preventing healthcare-associated infections.
Main Duties
1. Work autonomously as a specialist infection prevention and control practitioner, responsible for facilitating infection prevention, surveillance, investigation, and control within the Trust.
2. Provide specialist advice and training to staff on infection control matters.
3. Operate flexibly within the team, potentially deputising for senior members.

* Pay Band: Band 7 (£46,148 - £52,809 plus HCA)

* Working pattern: Full-time, five days including weekends on a rota basis
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities include delivering clinical services, acting as a resource for infection control, managing outbreaks, conducting audits, developing policies, and providing education and research support, among others. The role involves liaising with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies.
Person Specification
Essential qualifications include NMC Level 1 registration. Desirable qualifications include a master's degree in a health-related subject. Candidates should have at least 5 years post-registration experience, with 2 in infection control. Experience at ward/department management level is desirable.
