Job Description
JR PAT Testing is an expanding PAT and Compliance company currently looking for engineers to join our team in Castlereagh. We offer self‑employed positions with flexible hours, allowing interested individuals to work part‑time or full‑time.
This role offers potential earnings on a pro‑rata basis depending on the rate per appliance, the number of tests and job dynamics. Our jobs range from one‑day projects to long‑term contracts.
To apply, you must have transport or means to get to work, a City & Guilds 2377 PAT qualification or equivalent, be reliable, honest, and have a ‘can‑do’ attitude. All necessary equipment must be kept up‑to‑date, in good working order, and meet relevant regulations.
A Typical Day of a Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) Engineer
As a PAT engineer, no two days are the same. From hospitals to retail outlets, you’ll work in a variety of locations. A typical day starts with packing up all necessary tools and equipment into the van before setting off to the first job.
Once on site, you’ll test all appliances (e.g., microwaves, kettles and computers) and determine whether they are safe for continued use or need to be replaced or repaired. You’ll inform users of the results and explain why certain appliances may be unfit for use.
You’ll record your findings in a dedicated PAT test report book or an electronic system and provide employers with a copy. You may also be required to fill out additional paperwork such as completion certificates and checklists.
Throughout the day, you’ll constantly move from one location to another—either alone or as part of a team—so staying organised and ensuring accurate, efficient testing is crucial.
This role is physically and mentally demanding but rewarding, helping to keep workplaces safe and allowing you to develop your knowledge and expertise.
Why Join JR PAT Testing
You’ll feel part of a supportive, family‑like environment. Your well‑being is a priority and you are supported by friendly staff who will help when personal issues arise. The company cares about all aspects of your life.
