Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Transport Manager to oversee our logistics and transportation operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities and a comprehensive understanding of supply chain management. This role is crucial in ensuring that our transport services run smoothly, efficiently, and in compliance with all regulations. The Transport Manager will be responsible for coordinating all transport activities, managing staff, and maintaining high standards of customer service.
Duties
* Manage the daily operations of the transport department, ensuring timely delivery of goods.
* Develop and implement effective logistics strategies to optimise supply chain processes.
* Oversee the scheduling and routing of deliveries to maximise efficiency.
* Maintain accurate records of transport activities using Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations as well as legal requirements related to transportation.
* Lead and mentor a team of drivers and logistics personnel, fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork.
* Communicate effectively with customers to address inquiries and resolve issues promptly.
* Monitor vehicle maintenance schedules to ensure fleet reliability and safety.
* Analyse transport data to identify areas for improvement in service delivery.
Experience
Candidates should possess a solid background in transport management or logistics, with demonstrable experience in the following areas:
* Hold a minimum of 2 years' recent/current Transport Planning experience in a fast-paced environment, including the supervision of a team of drivers.
* Strong management skills with a proven ability to lead teams effectively.
* Holder of a Certificate of Professional Competence in Road Haulage, or willing to work towards.
* Proficient driving skills with a valid driving licence.
* Extensive knowledge of logistics and supply chain operations, ideally in a port environment.
* Excellent computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
* Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Strong customer service orientation with the ability to handle client interactions professionally.
