An opportunity has arisen in our Technical Team and we are looking for a Quality and Compliance Manager to join us at Taylors of Harrogate for a 14-month fixed term contract. We're looking for someone to start as soon as possible due to an internal move. Reporting into the Technical Manager and based at our site in Starbeck, Harrogate this 14-month opportunity will lead in the development of our systems and processes to ensure all aspects of product safety, legality, quality and authenticity are maintained in line with company policy, customer requirements and current legislation from delivery of raw materials and onwards through our supply chain. It is also expected to provide leadership and development to direct reports to ensure compliance within our manufacturing teams. The working hours are 37.5 hours Monday to Friday We offer the opportunity for flexible/hybrid working, but this would ideally include 3 days per week collaborating with your colleagues on-site at our offices in Harrogate. Key Responsibilites include: Leading in the development of our food safety and quality management systems and processes to ensure all aspects of product safety, legality, quality and authenticity are maintained and continuously improved in line with company policy, customer requirements and current legislation. Leading, developing and coaching the Quality and Compliance Team (5 direct reports) in the delivery of ways of working, team purpose, and intentions to ensure the achievement of functional KPIs and business objectives. Developing and leading the maintenance of a robust HACCP food safety management system as HACCP Team Leader for Manufacturing, St James Warehouse and the Laundry in addition to Allergen and Integrity Plans. Prioritising maintenance of our sites’ external certification by ensuring that all requirements are met including adherence to requirements, acting as site contact for audits and ensuring that corrective actions are completed in a timely manner. Developing effective relationships as the key technical contact for our own label customers and evaluating own label customer requirements, interpreting these requirements objectively to ensure compliance and ensure that supplier KPIs are maintained. Managing our Product Withdrawal and Recall processes, including initiating and co-ordinating mock exercises. About You You will have previous experience in a technical role within a food manufacturing environment with the ability to have open and honest communcation to build and maintain relationships. Planning, organising and problem solving are also key skills for this position. You will also be: Educated to degree level in a food science related degree (or equivalent), hold Level 4 Award in Food Safety Management for Manufacturing, Level 4 Award in HACCP Management for Food Manufacturing with experience of managing a HACCP system as HACCP Team Leader and Lead Auditor qualification with experience of completing internal audits. Detailed knowledge and understanding of food safety legislation, customer specific and best practice requirements (specifically BRCGS Global Standard for Food Safety and BRCGS Global Standard for Storage and Distribution) and the ability to translate these objectively into a food manufacturing environment to ensure compliance. Experience of technical account management with the UK major retailers. Appropriate training in food labelling requirements with experience of approving packaging artwork for compliance.
