Birkbeck, University of London, is seeking a Research Communication Assistant on a part-time, fixed term contract this Autumn.
This is an exciting opportunity to support a transdisciplinary research project based at a community-led heritage site. You will be assisting with developing and communicating research output to academic and community audiences and leading the technical development of an accessible blog.
As Research Communication Assistant, you will work closely with the project leader to advance research that sits at the nexus of health, social and arts-based research.
There are two key aspects to the role. Firstly, you will assist with the delivery of a small study; this will explore community wellbeing through a multimodal journaling activity that foregrounds somatic and sensory awareness. You will be supporting with data analysis, reviewing literature and communicating findings.
Secondly, you will be leading the technical development of a community engagement blog. Crucially, you will be responsible for implementing best practices for accessibility, including embedding multimodal research output and optimising the site for use with assistive technology.
To succeed in this position, you must have prior experience developing and maintaining websites using You will need a strong foundation in qualitative social research skills ( sociology, psychosocial studies, anthropology) or in a relevant humanities subject ( human geography, history, archaeology), ideally at postgraduate research level. Given the focus on research output, editorial and proof-reading skills are essential.
The role can be largely carried out on a flexible and remote basis, but fortnightly meetings in person in Bloomsbury, Euston, London will be required.

Salary and benefits
£ per hour, (Pro-rated £38,981 per year, FTE). Grade 6 on the College's London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated London Weighting Allowance.

Contract:
This is a part-time role, working 92 hours in total until 15 April 2026, remotely and flexibly, with fortnightly in-person meetings (Tues – Fri PM)
