A fast-growing creative business is looking for a proactive and detail-focused Finance Assistant/Cost Controller to support their Senior Cost Controller and wider finance team. This role sits at the heart of project finance, helping keep reporting tight, processes smooth, and cash flow on track.
Responsibilities
* Support the Senior Cost Controller in maintaining accurate, actionable P&Ls and cash-flow reports.
* Assist with the monthly close process, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
* Help build and maintain robust financial controls, including tidy file structures, naming conventions, and checklists for receipts, returns, credits, and other key documents.
* Support UK corporation tax processes, including quarterly reporting and annual filings.
* Prepare and maintain cost-control files, financial reports, and spreadsheets.
* Monitor client and subcontractor payments to ensure deadlines are met.
* Manage POs, process purchase invoices, raise sales invoices, and ensure timely onward billing of variations.
* Assist the Financial Controller with reporting and ad hoc finance duties.
Requirements
* 2-4 years of finance experience, ideally within a creative, media, or agency environment.
* AAT Level 4 or part-qualified ACCA/CIMA (or equivalent experience).
* Strong Excel/Google Sheets capability (SUMIFS, INDEX-MATCH/XLOOKUP, pivot tables; confident building clear financial models).
* SAP experience (essential).
* Good understanding of VAT - ideally including the Margin Scheme - or the willingness and discipline to learn quickly.
* High ownership, strong organisational skills, and the ability to communicate finance clearly and simply.
