Job overview
The CAMHS Schools’ Teams are part of an exciting project funded by NHS England, Health Education England, aiming to improve mental health and wellbeing of children and young people in the community. The team focuses on increasing access to emotional support within schools and working with community partners, integrated with CAMHS and educational settings.
You will join a comprehensive CAMHS service, delivering care based on the i-Thrive framework. Your role includes developing interventions, projects, and system changes to promote whole school and community approaches to mental health.
Responsibilities include providing consultation, assessment, risk management, and interventions for young people with emotional and mental health difficulties in schools, as well as supervising junior colleagues.
Main duties of the job
We seek a confident child and adolescent mental health professional experienced in evidence-based interventions. Suitable backgrounds include Family & Systemic Psychotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Registered Nurse, Social Worker, Arts Therapist, Senior CWP, or EMHP.
The Luton team aims to reduce health inequalities, working closely with schools and external partners to address community needs through whole-school approaches and targeted interventions. Luton is diverse, with many children speaking English as an additional language.

Person specification
Qualifications
* An EMHP/a CWP qualification, or a core profession (Family Therapist, Mental Health Nurse, Social Worker, Arts Therapist, Play Therapist, Occupational Therapist)
* Appropriate qualification and accreditation eligibility within 6 months
* Registration with the relevant professional body (e.g., UKCP, NMC, HCPC)
* Evidence of ongoing professional development (CPD)
* Post-graduate training or experience supporting diverse children, young people, and families
Experience
* Experience working with CYP aged 6-18
* Experience working with parents/caregivers
* Experience delivering low-intensity interventions for children’s challenging behaviors, anxiety, low mood, self-esteem, body image concerns, and OCD
Skills
* Ability to give constructive feedback and follow procedures
* Time and caseload management
* Effective cross-organizational collaboration
* Skilled in emergency and crisis assessments
* Teaching skills in clinical and educational settings
Knowledge
* Understanding of Whole School Approach and its components
* Knowledge of safeguarding legislation and pathways, including contextual safeguarding
* Self-awareness and receptiveness to feedback
* Familiarity with national CAMHS guidelines and policies (e.g., Long-Term Plan, Thrive)
* Understanding of the Mental Health and Mental Capacity Acts
* Awareness of inter-agency partnership developments
