Nursery Teaching Assistant

Grade 3 £25,185 - £25,989 pro rata

22 hours per week, term time only + 2 weeks

Temporary - required from 17th November 2025 until 31 August 2026

We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, and compassionate Nursery Teaching Assistant to join our nursery team from November 2025.

This is a temporary, part-time position that may become permanent in future depending on pupil numbers and other factors. There may also be an opportunity for additional hours on a casual basis.

About the Role:

As Nursery Teaching Assistant, you will:

* Provide engaging and stimulating learning opportunities for children, supporting their development across all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
* Work closely with the class teacher and colleagues to deliver high-quality care and education.
* Support childrens social, emotional, and behavioural needs, helping every child to feel valued and included.
* Contribute to the wider life of the school, sharing ideas and energy to enrich the experiences of our pupils.
* Work flexibly with individuals and groups, adapting to the needs of the children and the nursery setting.

We are looking for someone who:

* Is caring, enthusiastic, and committed to supporting young children.
* Can work effectively as part of a team and is willing to contribute to our positive school ethos.
* Is adaptable, proactive, and able to manage the varied demands of the role.
* Has experience supporting childrens learning and development, ideally within an Early Years setting.
* Can communicate confidently and clearly with children, families, and colleagues.
* Holds a qualification that meets the full and relevant criteria for Early Years and is suitable for inclusion in staffing ratios.

The working pattern is 22 hours a week

Monday 8am - 4pm

Thursday 8am - 4pm

Fridays: 8am - 3.30pm

Applicants must hold a qualification that meets the approved full and relevant criteria for Early Years qualifications and inclusion in staffing ratios.

Where the roles are customer facing and you are required to speak to members of the public, the ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.

Calculation of term time only plus two weeks pay

Term time only plus two additional weeks pay is calculated on the basis of the following:

- Number of teaching weeks - 38 weeks; plus

- Public (bank) holidays - 1.6 weeks (8 days); plus

- Two additional weeks, inclusive of CPD - 2 weeks; plus

- Individual leave entitlement - 5.4 weeks (27 days) or 6.4 weeks (32 days)

Individual leave entitlement is calculated on the length of continuous service. Employees with less than 5 years service will receive 27 days annual leave. Employees with more than 5 years service will receive 32 days annual leave.

For example:

Calculation for employees with less than 5 years service:

40 weeks (term time plus days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) = 47 weeks pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments

Calculation for employees with more than 5 years service:

40 weeks (term time plus days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) = 48 weeks pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments
