About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Head of Safety, Health & Environment to lead and oversee health, safety, and wellbeing across our group. This pivotal role will ensure compliance with statutory requirements, implement best practices, and foster a positive safety culture across the Group.
You will also manage a small team of health & safety professionals, providing leadership, support, and development opportunities.
You will work closely with senior leadership, managers, and staff to provide expert guidance, develop policies and procedures, and deliver training to ensure a safe and secure learning and working environment.
*Please note the salary includes a £3,000 per annum market supplement
Interviews will be held in January 2026.
What You Will Do
1. Lead and manage the health & safety and fire safety function across all Group members, including a small team of H&S professionals.
2. Develop, implement, and monitor health & safety policies, procedures, and initiatives.
3. Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
4. Provide expert advice to senior leaders and managers on health & safety matters.
5. Maintain and review incident management and business continuity plans in coordination with senior leaders, external agencies and stakeholders.
6. Conduct risk assessments, audits, and inspections across campuses.
7. Deliver training and awareness programs to staff and students.
8. Promote a positive health, safety, and wellbeing culture throughout the Group.
About You
9. Extensive experience in health & safety and fire safety management, ideally within a multi-site organisation.
10. Strong knowledge of current health & safety legislation and best practices.
11. Experience in incident management and knowledge of business continuity planning
12. Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills.
13. Ability to influence, advise, and engage with stakeholders at all levels.
14. A degree in a relevant subject area & professional health & safety qualifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH)
15. Proven leadership skills, including experience managing a small team.
