What we do At our Watts Farms packhouse site, we produce and pack fresh herbs and baby leaf products for retail and wholesale customers across the UK. The site runs mission-critical production lines using a wide range of packing machinery. About the role We have a fantastic opportunity for a Maintenance Engineer to join our team. This new role has been created to bring our maintenance in-house and improve the way we manage planned servicing. Much of this work is currently outsourced, and by bringing in the right expertise we aim to: Reduce down time Reduce breakdowns by increasing planned servicing Reduce spend and reliance on external contractors This role reports directly to the Packhouse Manager Role Accountabilities Conduct planned maintenance of processing and packaging machinery Respond to breakdowns swiftly and effectively. Identify and resolve faults (electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, automation, and pneumatics) Call out and oversee contractors where required, logging and authorising costs Lead and support operational teams with machinery change overs and set ups. Manufacture and repair component parts for processing and packaging assets. Contribute to continuous improvement projects to optimise assets and processes. Participate in decision-making for new machinery purchases About you You'll bring strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to keeping machinery running smoothly. Essential: Engineering apprenticeship (C&G / EAL NVQ Level 3 / 4 or OAL FDEM Diploma) Current Edition of IET Wiring Regulations (C&G Level 3, achieve within 12 months). Application of Safety, Health and Environmental legislation and procedures Experience in planning works and writing reports. Ability to read and follow SOPs Desirable: Mechanical principles (fabrication, welding, machining, turning, hydraulics, pneumatics, thermodynamics) Electrical principles (motors, motor control circuits, motion control, encoders, PLCs, sensors) F&D assets Working Hours Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm.
