A leading manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Shift Engineer to join its engineering team. This role is critical in ensuring maximum plant uptime through proactive maintenance, rapid fault diagnosis and continuous improvement activities.
Working closely with the Engineering leadership team, you will be responsible for both planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown support across a busy production facility.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities across production equipment and site services.
* Respond to mechanical and electrical breakdowns, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives to minimise downtime and improve reliability.
* Work closely with Production teams to ensure maintenance activities are completed efficiently with minimal disruption.
* Complete daily, weekly and monthly machinery inspections.
* Maintain engineering records and documentation.
* Support Health & Safety, COSHH, PUWER and permit-to-work procedures.
* Assist with audits, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
* Participate in call-outs and provide shift cover where required.
* Assist with training and development of engineering and production colleagues.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
* Previous experience working as a Shift Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, Multi-Skilled Engineer or Production Engineer within a manufacturing environment.
* Strong fault-finding skills on mechanical and electrical systems.
* Experience maintaining production machinery and plant equipment.
* Knowledge of preventative maintenance systems.
* Understanding of Health & Safety, COSHH and engineering compliance requirements.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with production teams.
* A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
