Here at Serco, we are looking for a Custodial Manager (COM) to join our Justice & Immigration team at HMP Fosse Way, a Category C resettlement prison in Leicester with the capacity to house around 1,700 prisoners.
This role is for someone eager to make a real difference and who understands that no two days are the same! As a designated COM, you may be assigned to any role within the prison. Your core qualities will always be your commitment, enthusiasm, and support for our prisoners through positivity and engagement.
You will line manage your team with a collaborative approach and promote Serco's policies in all activities and behaviors by fostering diversity, decency, safety, and reducing re-offending initiatives.
A challenging, demanding, and varied role reporting to the Senior Custodial Manager and Assistant Director, with duties including:
1. Contributing to prisoner reports, including sentence planning and parole reports when required.
2. Ensuring all staff supervise, manage, and control prisoners lawfully, safely, securely, and decently during activities.
3. Managing incident documentation and logging on the Incident Reporting System (IRS).
4. Implementing actions from audits, HMIP inspections, self-audits, etc.
5. Planning staff rotas and managing the delivery of the regime.
6. Ensuring compliance with Prison Service standards and SDIs within your work area.
Requirements for the role
You must be qualified as a trained Prison Custody Officer and have attended a Custodial Manager Assessment Centre or possess equivalent experience as a Custodial Manager.
You should demonstrate a commitment to learning through on-the-job projects, secondments, volunteering, or formal education.
Line management skills are critical; you must ensure your team has the necessary knowledge, skills, and confidence to perform their roles, embodying dignity, decency, and security in all interactions.
