We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and flexiblestaff nurse to become part of our team at MKUCS. This is an exciting opportunity for a band 5nurse to progress and develop their nursing become a skill staff nurse inurgent care, particularly within the field of minor illness and minor injurytreatments and navigation. We will offeryou guidance, support and encouragement. This post invovles 12 hour day and night shifts.
The successful applicant should be a registered nurse. Youwill need a high degree of enthusiasm and drive to develop as a clinician andwork with the team to gain the necessary knowledge and experience to achieve withinurgent care. You will provide andpromote the highest possible standard of care based on professionallydetermined standards. You willparticipate as an effective practitioner within MKUCS demonstrating effectiveteam work and providing good morale within the department.

- Provide care in the clinical area as aneffective member of the clinical team.
- Participate in the initial assessment ofpatients attending MKUCS to navigate the patients to the most appropriate care,book in and complete the NEWS2 and POPS scoring including those presenting withcomplex conditions.
- Establish a safe working environment forpatients and staff and ensure that patient contact and dignity are compromisedas little as possible.
- Take responsibility for a patient within anarea of the department for example: wounds and treatments.
- Carry out wound closure by means of suture /steri-strip and gluing including infiltration of wounds and local anaesthetic.
- Act upon concerns regarding child and adultsafeguarding within agreed protocols, trust policies and legislation.
- Maintain appropriate documentation profiles,care plans and electronic records.
- Participate in the care of criticallyill/deteriorating patients.
- Perform venepuncture, ECGs, Urinalysis andother baseline examinations.
- Arrange, co-ordinate and participate in safehospital transfer of patients, assessing, planning, implementing and evaluatingcare.
- Undertake daily checks of Urgent Care Centreequipment, and report any faults to relevant department or person.

Beresponsible for delegation to Health Care Assistants and pre-registrationstudents of duties in accordance with the individuals knowledge andexperience. Give support to new startersin MKUCS

Providesupport for patients / relatives in highly emotional distressed state includingand patients with special needs.

Providesafe and competent management of members of the public who may be violent,aggressive or under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
Co-operateand communicate with members of the multi-disciplinary team and other agencies,sensitive information concerning a patients medical condition within theconstraints of data protection.

Undertakethe role of co-assessor/mentor to learners.
Participatein clinical audit and trials.
