Role Purpose:
The Senior Lead Engineer will provide high-level technical assistance across the business, acting as a key escalation point for complex lift faults, repeat breakdowns, and problematic sites. This role is designed to support and work alongside the company's Technician—helping to manage technical workload, improve response times on difficult jobs, and strengthen engineering standards primarily across Service and Repairs. The Senior Lead Engineer will also contribute to continuous improvement by supporting fault diagnosis, assisting with technical documentation, and helping engineers improve their approach on-site through guidance and practical support.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Technical Support & Field Engineering
2. Attend complex lift faults, high-priority callouts, and repeat breakdowns requiring advanced technical knowledge.
3. Support field engineers with escalated jobs, offering on-site guidance, troubleshooting and technical direction.
4. Assist the Technician with workload, ensuring adequate coverage for problem sites and urgent escalations.
5. Act as a senior point of technical reference within the engineering team, promoting safe, consistent, and high-standard working practices.
6. Support Repairs & Modernisation teams as required, particularly during periods of reduced technical callout activity.
7. Engineering Development & Support
8. Work with the Technician to identify recurring technical issues, common fault trends, and skills gaps within the team.
9. Provide ad-hoc on-site coaching to engineers where appropriate.
10. Support improvements to technical standards and service quality by sharing best practice and highlighting corrective actions.
11. Assist with technical write-ups, method statements, fault reports, and procedural updates where required.
12. Collaboration & Operational Support
13. Work closely with the Technician to coordinate escalations, share field intelligence, and maintain technical coverage across the business.
14. Provide constructive feedback to management regarding engineer performance, site conditions, and technical concerns.
15. Support the implementation of company standards, engineering procedures, and safety guidelines.
16. Liaise with Service, Repairs, and Installations teams to ensure smooth communication and problem resolution.
