We are currently recruiting for an experienced Critical ElectricalShift Engineer to join a leading facilities management provider supporting a mission:critical data centre in Essex.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within a high:availability critical environment where reliability, resilience, and uptime are the priority. Key Responsibilities:
: Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive electrical maintenance across critical infrastructure.
: Respond swiftly to electrical faults, alarms, and plant failures to maintain 24/7 uptime.
: Operate and maintain critical electrical systems including UPS systems, generators, switchgear, transformers, PDUs, and HV/LV distribution systems.
: Perform electrical fault:finding on power distribution systems within live environments.
: Conduct switching operations (LV and HV where authorised).
: Monitor and operate Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS).
: Carry out regular plant inspections, load checks, battery testing, and thermal imaging where required.
: Ensure all works are completed in line with permit:to:work systems, RAMS, and site compliance procedures.
: Support planned shutdowns, client change requests, and infrastructure upgrades.
Requirements:
: City and Guilds Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Installation or Engineering.
: 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (essential).
: HV/LV Authorised Person or experience working within HV environments (desirable).
: Minimum 3 years' experience in a critical environment (data centres, hospitals, banking, or similar high:availability sites preferred).
: Strong electrical fault:finding and diagnostic capability.
: Experience working on UPS systems, generators, and critical power infrastructure.
: Calm, methodical approach with the ability to perform under pressure.
