What You’ll Be Doing:
As a Principal Product Safety Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of our products. Your responsibilities will include:
* Providing expert advice on product safety matters to project and engineering managers, ensuring compliance with DEF STAN 0055/0056.
* Engaging with third parties to review and gather supporting safety case evidence.
* Developing safety arguments—both physical and functional—using safety analysis methods such as FHA, STPA, FMEA, and FTA.
* Producing and updating safety case and management documentation in line with relevant regulations and standards.
* Line managing other safety practitioners to foster a collaborative environment.
* Applying ALARP principles to maintain the highest safety standards.
Your Skills and Experiences:
Essential:
* Proficiency in safety engineering processes, practices, and tools.
* A clear understanding of safety engineering and assurance principles.
* Qualified engineers from other disciplines who demonstrate the right behaviors and an understanding of safety engineering are encouraged to apply.
Desirable:
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage and engage stakeholders effectively.

About the Combat Systems Safety Team:
In this role, you will collaborate with engineers and technical specialists on both In-Service and In-Build Combat Systems. You’ll have the chance to develop safety arguments while gaining insights into new technologies and sensor systems. We value experience from the military, defense, and maritime industries, and we provide relocation support packages for eligible candidates across all Submarine roles.
