Senior Motion Designer — Location: Hybrid – Dorking, Surrey (Tues–Thurs in office; Mon & Fri WFH)
Salary: £30,000–£35,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Reports to: Executive Creative Director

Job Summary
We’re looking for a Senior Motion Designer who is a creative thinker with excellent motion design skills. You’ll bring fresh ideas, superb craft, and strong technical know‑how to concept, design and animate motion-led content. You will own briefs from ideation through to delivery, collaborating closely with the wider creative team to deliver standout work for our clients. This role suits someone ready to step up, confidently present and justify their thinking, and help raise the creative bar while keeping projects on time and on brand.
Key Responsibilities
* Creative Development
* Translate client briefs into compelling motion concepts and narratives.
* Develop moodboards, style frames and storyboards that clearly communicate direction.
* Contribute to pitches and treatments with smart, strategic thinking.
* Design & Animation
* Create distinctive illustrations and design systems that set the visual tone.
* Deliver polished 2D animation in Adobe After Effects across a range of formats (social, web, broadcast, events).
* Maintain high standards of typography, layout, pacing and rhythm.
* Collaboration & Communication
* Present concepts, storyboards and WIPs to the ECD and, when required, to clients.
* Work closely with studio team to plan schedules, estimate time and meet deadlines.
* Give and receive constructive feedback; support and mentor junior creatives.
* Quality & Innovation
* Ensure output is on-brand, accessible and optimised for channel and aspect ratio.
* Stay on top of motion trends, techniques and tools; suggest new approaches (e.g. Rive, character rigs, data‑led animation).
Qualifications & Skills
Required
* Expert in Adobe Illustrator and confident drafting clear, client‑ready storyboards and style frames.
* Solid Adobe After Effects animation skills with a strong grasp of timing, easing, transitions and secondary motion.
* Demonstrable motion design craft: composition, colour, typography and branding.
* Strong communication skills; able to research, present and defend ideas effectively.
* Organised, proactive and comfortable owning projects end‑to‑end.
Desirable
* Working knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro and Cinema 4D.
* Familiarity with Rive and Moho (or similar rigging tools).
* Experience with basic sound design, grading, and preparing content for large‑format/immersive screens.
