Job Description:

As a member of the Health, Safety, Environment and Security Team, this role is responsible for delivering physical security, standards, and compliance oversight, ensuring design and implementation of new facilities are based on criticality of the assets and understanding of the threat.
Key Responsibilities
1. Manage and coordinate Security Aspects Letters and oversee relationships with Industry Security Assurance Centre.
2. Ensure that operational design elements are incorporated into programmes to increase NPL's security posture based on current and future threat vectors.
3. Provide governance and oversight of physical security standards for NPL’s secure facilities and critical assets.
4. Plan, deliver, and review internal security assurance audits to identify non-compliance, across physical security, and make practical recommendations.
5. Conduct security investigations for vulnerabilities or procedural failings, collate and present statistical data to monitor standards, and develop improvement initiatives.
6. Build and maintain excellent relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including the wider security team, estates, third-party contractors, contracting authorities, and relevant government agencies.
7. Develop operational procedures to address gaps in security performance aligned with the NPL security strategy.
8. Report and communicate non-compliance issues and provide guidance and support for compliance.
9. Monitor updates in threat vectors relevant to NPL’s interests. Develop and maintain a knowledge base of threat actor modes of operation, indicators, and warnings to inform risk management strategies.
10. Maintain current knowledge on physical security standards, methodologies, and market-leading technical products and infrastructure, delivering return on investment to the business.
11. Take reasonable duty of care for Health & Safety of oneself and others affected by acts or omissions at work, following all instructions related to Health & Safety.
