As a Mental Health Nurse in our Front Door Access to Mental Health team, you will play a pivotal role in assessing the mental health needs of people referred to mental health services. You will provide timely and effective support. Using your expertise, you will evaluate needs, risks, and the urgency of response through telephone and face‑to‑face consultations. By delivering safe and comprehensive services, you will help individuals navigate their mental health challenges and embark on their recovery journey.
Main Duties
The Mental Health Nurses in the team process, assess, and determine the mental health and social care needs of people referred to the service. You will be required to conduct excellent risk assessment and safety planning, and decide on safe and effective responses for identified clients.
You will participate in the delivery of the agreed aims and objectives of the service and identify factors which may inhibit these from being achieved. Working in partnership with local Integrated Mental Health Teams (Lichfield, Burton, Tamworth, Stafford, Cannock or Seisdon), you will support collaborative assessment, delivering a high standard of mental health care to service users and implementing agreed systems for monitoring effectiveness of care. You will also participate in the education and management of junior staff.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Mental Health Nurse.
* Ability to use computers and information technology as required.
Desirable Qualifications
* Non‑medical prescribing qualification (AMHP).
Experience
* Extensive post‑registration experience.
* Previous experience working in the community.
Desirable Experience
* Experience of working in a similar role.
Skills & Knowledge
* Knowledge of current initiatives impacting on the service.
* Confidence and competence in conducting assessments by telephone.
* Demonstrated ability to work within and across teams and professional boundaries.
