Junior Technical Manager
Are you an experienced technical professional with a passion for quality, sustainability, and innovation in fresh produce? We are seeking a Junior Technical Manager to join our dynamic team supporting the M&S account, delivering exceptional service, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring the highest standards of product safety, legality, and integrity.
Key Responsibilities
Customer & Technical Support
1. Assist the Technical Director, Head of Technical, and Technical Managers across product safety, quality, and ESG initiatives.
2. Maintain exceptional customer service, delivering data-led insights and performance updates to M&S across complaints, shelf life, waste, intake assessments and more.
3. Organise and participate in supplier/customer visits, follow-ups, and project delivery.
4. Manage and update M&S technical platforms and specification libraries.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
5. Coordinate weekly quality summaries and KPI reporting, liaising with Product Management and TA teams.
6. Support and help deliver internal upskilling sessions and masterclasses.
7. Participate in agent and site audits, benchmarking and development of best practices across all packing and supplier sites.
8. Lead the implementation of new M&S policies and standards across the supply base.
Innovation & Supply Chain Resilience
9. Work closely with growers and suppliers to identify and implement varietal and packaging innovation.
10. Help assess and strengthen supply chain resilience and continuity plans.
11. Maintain and contribute to innovation trackers and development projects.
Internal Collaboration & Reporting
12. Communicate clearly and regularly with Commercial, Compliance, and Packaging teams to align goals.
13. Deliver both customer-facing and supplier-facing analysis and planning to ensure specification, compliance, and quality standards are met.
14. Maintain effective technical documentation, reports, and KPIs.
About You
Essential Experience & Skills:
15. Must have proven experience in Technical, Quality Assurance, or Compliance within food or fresh produce.
16. Experience with customer compliance systems, specification management and direct interaction with M&S or similar UK retailers.
17. Proficient in MS Office, Excel, databases, and confident in using customer portals.
18. Strong communication, organisation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
19. Able to multitask, prioritise, and remain calm under pressure.
20. Great attention to detail and a proactive, solution-focused attitude.
21. Must have full driving licence and car
22. Must have full right to work in the UK
Desirable:
23. Internal auditing experience (especially to M&S standards: Select Farm, FSQI, etc.)
24. Knowledge of BRCGS, Prophet ERP systems, and labelling requirements.
25. Ripening and category-specific experience within fresh produce.
26. Factory or packing site experience and involvement with varietal trials.
