We are seeking a flexible, enthusiastic, and self-motivated individual to join our dedicated, highly focused Non-Invasive team at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The team is committed to providing and maintaining high standards of healthcare across all wards and peripheral hospitals.
The post holder will perform a range of routine non-invasive diagnostic Cardiology investigations on inpatients and outpatients, with appropriate training provided. The role involves working as part of a team, with guidance from Healthcare Scientists and practitioners, while completing a training program that includes a national professional examination.
This is an 18-month fixed-term developmental role. Upon successful completion, there will be an opportunity to progress to a permanent AFC Band 3 contract, contingent on passing an in-house training program and the SCST professional examination (Certificate in Electrocardiography).
Please note: This position can be offered as either full-time or part-time. The fixed-term contract is due to the apprenticeship/training nature of the program. The contract status will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's policies.
Applicants must have resided in the UK, EEA, or EU for at least three years to qualify for this apprenticeship program.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Performing routine and urgent ECGs for adult and paediatric patients.
2. Preparing and fitting ECG and Blood Pressure monitoring equipment, providing instructions to patients.
3. Supporting and advising patients and medical teams before and after procedures.
4. Participating in resuscitation efforts (BLS) during cardiac emergencies.
5. Communicating technical information effectively to colleagues, patients, and suppliers.
6. Managing room and equipment requirements, including stock, cleanliness, and infection control.
7. Performing checks on departmental defibrillators and blood glucose monitors.
8. Recording Cardiology measurements according to standards.
