If you love the precision of payroll, understand UK tax and compliance inside out, and enjoy leading a team to deliver flawless results every month, this could be your next step.

Reporting to the Director of People, you’ll take full ownership of payroll across our portfolio, ensuring 1,800+ colleagues are paid accurately, on time and in line with legislation.

You’ll be our in‑house expert, strengthening controls, improving processes and partnering closely with Finance and Operations.


About the Role

You are accountable for leading the payroll function end to end, ensuring robust controls, smooth monthly processing and a service that supports our hotels effectively.

Key responsibilities include:

* Leading, coaching and developing the Payroll team to consistently hit deadlines and quality standards.
* Overseeing monthly payroll across multiple PAYEs, ensuring full compliance with UK legislation
* Managing end‑to‑end processing including SSP, SMP, SPP, Tax, NI, RTI submissions, P45, P60, P11D and statutory reporting.
* Acting as the payroll subject matter expert, resolving complex queries confidently and efficiently
* Auditing payroll processes, including NMW checks and right to work compliance.
* Managing pensions and benefits administration, including payrolled benefits and reporting.
* Delivering annual processes including pay reviews, PSA and Gender Pay Gap reporting
* Driving smarter systems, stronger controls and streamlined payroll procedures.


About You

You are analytical, organised and commercially aware, with a genuine enthusiasm for payroll. You combine technical expertise with strong interpersonal skills and take pride in delivering a seamless, compliant payroll service.

We’re looking for:

* Proven experience as a Payroll Manager overseeing multi‑site, multi‑PAYE payrolls
* Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and tax procedures
* Experience leading and developing a payroll team.
* Familiarity with payroll systems such as EPS and Cintra (or similar)
* Excellent attention to detail and strong Excel capability.
* Confident communication skills, with the ability to partner effectively with operational leaders.

A CIPP qualification is desirable and will support progression in the role.

The successful applicant will be offered a role subject to eligible Right to Work and DBS checks.
