2nd Line Database Engineer
Location - Stevenage

Responsibilities
* Support our customers and systems to maintain Service level agreements and Key performance indicators.
* Have a good understanding of IT support and infrastructure aligned to ITIL Processes.
* Follow current procedures and document new processes for your area of responsibility.
* Support the team in all aspects of database support services and assist other teams where your knowledge can be utilized.
* Be a good communicator and collaborate with both colleagues and customers, which is paramount in this busy environment.
* Work from assigned service desk tickets to investigate, assess and resolve customer and system issues within the timescales laid down in SLAs, in accordance with defined procedures and adhering to all IS Policy documents, including Change & Release, Configuration, and Security.
* Maintain the security of the network services in accordance with the Establishment’s Security Operating Orders and current process documentation.
Your transferable skills and experience
* Understanding of SQL, DB2 or Oracle DB database management technologies.
* Proficient with VMware and virtualization environments.
* Basic scripting skills in PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar languages for automation and database task management.
* Familiarity with both Windows Server and Unix/Linux operating systems.
* Knowledge of VMware (to the extent of working with DB VM Payloads) with NetApp SAN and Cohesity backups

Hours of work
Our support requirements are Mon-Fri between 0700 & 1900. You will cover 37 hours over the week with a typical day from 0700 – 1530 or 1030 – 1900. There is no weekend working, however overtime may be available, which may include weekends.
