The Haematological Malignancy Diagnostic (HMDN) laboratory in Nottingham is a regional centre for the diagnosis and monitoring of haematological malignancies. Based within Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH) NHS Trust, we provide specialist diagnostic services to healthcare providers across the East Midlands and beyond.
Job Opportunity: Higher Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA)
We are seeking a highly motivated team member with excellent teamwork and communication skills, committed to delivering a quality-driven service. The successful candidate will have strong time management skills to maintain efficient workflow within the department.
Main responsibilities include:
1. Day-to-day administrative and pre-analytical duties.
2. Working in specimen reception, booking in samples, preparing bone marrow slides, and organizing sample dispatch to external laboratories.
3. Administrative tasks such as data entry into the laboratory LIMS system, preparing MDTs, and handling telephone enquiries.
The department operates between 8am and 6pm, with core hours from 9am to 5pm. The role may require participation in early and late shifts.
