The Role
As a Performance, Efficiency and Drivability Engineer (PED Engineer) you will be delivering new feature content (Feature Statement of Intent Use cases, requirements, test cases, HMI), and leading Design validation and sign-off. In this role you will be responsible for supporting the Lead Engineer with data analysis, summaries and judgement. This work will support the delivery of the Product Efficiency and Performance & Driveability Attributes and Features for a given vehicle architecture, programme and model year. A PED Engineer’s scope of work spans the entire product development milestones and includes contributions to activities such as target definition, competitor benchmark analysis, management of attribute inputs and trades, vehicle development and sign off for successful certification of product efficiency targets
Your responsibilities:
* Keep PED system tools and maintain databases up to date with the latest attribute metrics and competitors’ intelligence data.
* Analyse test data to generate attribute status reports for each vehicle line, create meaningful comparison with historic data, compliance data and other vehicle lines.
* Support competitor Attribute benchmarking (inclusive of physical / virtual testing, measurement and visual assessments as required).
* Support calculations of attribute targets by product development milestone.
* Support test and development activities as required by leadership.
* Interface with several vehicle teams as required.
* Operate under fluid and tight deadlines and contribute to ensuring that the wider business and other attribute teams are fully engaged and aligned to deliver across an electrified / hybrid vehicle product range.
Your Profile Essential skills/knowledge/experience:
* Understanding of physics behind vehicle efficiency, cycle energy demand, electric range / Fuel economy / CO2, performance metrics for BEV / Hybrids.
* Knowledge of whole vehicle engineering knowledge and cross functional experience.
* Previous experience of problem-solving tools e.g. Root Cause Analysis, 8 Disciplines of problem solving, Design of Experiments and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) in Engineering.
Desirable skills/knowledge/experience:
* Bachelor's degree in mechanical / electrical engineering or automotive engineering.
* Working knowledge of JIRA / Confluence.
* Excellent data analysis-interpretation and problem-solving ability.
* Experience in writing Excel Macros, coding with Matlab and/or other coding languages.
* Manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
* Good communication and collaboration skills.
