Accounts Payable Assistant
Location: Hybrid (Southampton, Hampshire)
Hours: Flexible working options between Monday – Friday 8am - 5:30pm
Salary: £28,000 - £30,000 (D.O.E)
The Opportunity: Finance in a Tech-Driven Lending Business
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Assistant to join the finance team of a rapidly growing, award-winning company in the personal lending sector. You will be joining a people-centric, collaborative team of over 150 professionals. The role is a full-time, permanent position offering the agility of a startup but backed by global expertise and stability. The ideal candidate is a confident self-starter eager to grow, develop, and proactively recommend process improvements.
Main responsibilities for the Accounts Payable Assistant position:
* Accounts Payable Processing: Process supplier invoices with high accuracy and attention to detail in line with company policies.
* Payment Preparation: Prepare and obtain necessary approvals for weekly supplier payment runs.
* Reconciliations: Perform daily bank reconciliations, cash book journals, and manage petty cash.
* Query Resolution: Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies promptly, efficiently managing and responding to queries in the Accounts Payable mailboxes.
* Employee Finance Management: Process and analyse employee expense claims and company credit card claims.
* Communication: Maintain frequent and ongoing communication with the Finance Manager, Directors, Operations management, and team leaders.
* Ad Hoc Duties: Support the wider finance team with various finance administrative tasks as required.
A successful candidate will have the following skills / attributes:
Essential
* AAT qualified or part-qualified (or equivalent).
* Previous experience in an Accounts Payable role.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
* Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
* Confident user of Excel, Word and Outlook.
* Ability to prioritise tasks effectively and work well under pressure.
Desirable
* Experience within the financial services sector.
