The role
The Head of Cloud Portfolio is responsible for the overall leadership, strategy, and execution of Ekco’s comprehensive cloud and business continuity portfolios. This includes oversight of public cloud, hybrid solutions, Ekco’s own multi-tenant platform, dedicated servers, Container services, connectivity and networking, as well as business continuity offerings (backup and disaster recovery). Reporting to the Chief Product Officer, the role is pivotal in driving forward-thinking product strategy, establishing effective governance, and ensuring both the strategic and tactical execution of cloud and business continuity roadmaps.
This position collaborates closely with cross-functional teams—including technology, operations, and sales—acting as a bridge between executive vision and operational delivery. This role requires both strategic leadership and hands-on execution, evolving over time to incorporate direct people management responsibilities as the portfolio matures.
Responsibilities
Product Strategy and Vision
* Develop and continuously refine the overall strategy and vision for Ekco’s cloud and business continuity portfolio.
* Collaborate with the CPO and business leaders to shape product vision, competitive positioning, and go-to-market strategy.
* Lead portfolio governance, process development, and implementation to ensure scalable and sustainable processes across the entire lifecycle.
* Own the multi-year roadmap for all cloud and business continuity services, aligning features, innovation, and investments to market trends and customer needs.
Portfolio & Product Management
* Oversee product lifecycle management for all portfolio components: public cloud, hybrid, Ekco’s multi-tenant platform, dedicated servers, containers, networking, and business continuity.
* Execute hands-on product management responsibilities, including requirements gathering, backlog prioritisation, and product development.
* Collaborate with the sales and operations teams to ensure that product development is aligned with customer requirements, budgets, and timelines.
* Develop and maintain a deep understanding of customer needs through regular robust customer feedback loops, research, and analysis, translating these insights into actionable product improvements or new features.
* Manage product pricing, positioning, and packaging to ensure offerings are competitive and deliver clear value to our customers.
* Act as the subject matter expert and primary point of contact for all portfolio offerings.
* Monitor and measure product performance, driving continual improvement through data-driven decision-making.
* Manage risk, regulatory, and compliance considerations for all portfolio services.
* Ensure seamless integration of new technologies, platforms, and services to continuously enhance product offerings.
Go-to-Market & Sales Enablement
* Work closely with marketing and sales teams to ensure successful product launches, clear messaging, and effective customer communication.
* Collaborate with the sales team to develop product training and support, ensuring that they are equipped with the knowledge and tools to sell effectively.
* Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product success, including customer adoption, retention, and overall satisfaction.
Collaboration, Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement
* Engage with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders to gather insights, validate propositions, and inform future direction.
* Work closely with operations and engineering teams to ensure effective handoff between development, deployment, and ongoing service delivery.
* Represent the cloud and BC portfolio in internal and external forums.
* Own vendor relationships, where relevant, and ensure that we maximise the value of these relationships
* Contribute to the development of resource plans and, in the future, manage and mentor a team of Product Management individual contributors as the function grows.
Requirements
* Proven experience in product or portfolio management roles within cloud, managed services, or closely related technology sectors.
* Deep knowledge of public, private, and hybrid cloud platforms, Kubernetes, networking, backup and disaster recovery solutions.
* Demonstrated success delivering innovative product strategies, roadmaps, and governance frameworks.
* Experience in both strategic and tactical aspects of product management—market research, roadmap execution, customer interaction, and go-to-market support.
* Strong understanding of the UK mid-market and enterprise MSP landscape, including customer needs, competitors, and emerging technologies.
* Strong analytical, organisational, and execution skills.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth, and evolving environment.
