THE COMPANY
A design-led homewares retailer with decades of heritage behind them. They’ve built a strong reputation for showcasing iconic brands with stores that feel more like galleries presenting carefully curated edits that celebrate good design. You’ll be based at their Central London studio which is spacious and filled with natural light. You’ll work with a small team of colleagues who have grown with the business in a relaxed, non-corporate environment.
They’re looking for an Assistant Buyer to join them. Initially, the focus will be providing support in the buying team but the plan is that within 6 months or so you’ll take ownership of your own category, with as much autonomy or support as you need. You’ll be guided by an incredibly lovely Head of Buying who is very keen to help you develop and grow in the role, making this a great opportunity if you’re an experienced Buying Assistant, Buying Admin Assistant, or Assistant Buyer looking to step up and continue building your buying career.
THE ROLE
Initially, the focus will be providing support to the buying team:
* Managing product setup, ensuring all pricing and product data is accurate and up to date
* Supporting with ordering, including raising POs and chasing order confirmations
* Preparing product information and assets for launches, including photography and website uploads
* Acting as a key point of contact for product queries from showroom colleagues
* Coordinating replacements or repairs with suppliers
* Carrying out comp shops
* Visiting the studios and manufacturing facilities of brands
* Attending UK & EU trade shows and design events
* Providing weekly trade reports for area as well as ad-hoc reports as required
Then once settled into the business, after 6 months or so, you’ll take ownership of your own category
ABOUT YOU
You’ve got some experience in a Buying Admin or Assistant Buyer role, ideally within homeware, furniture, or interiors. You’re super organised and like to keep things running smoothly. You’re the organiser of the holiday group chat. Colour-coded folders are your love language. You’re either just about ready to take on your own category or have already had a taste of running your own area and keen to keep going.
THE REWARD
This is an opportunity to develop strong relationships and build industry contacts with design-led luxury brands and studios, as well as the chance to attend major international design shows. You’ll be joining a business where people stay, working alongside an experienced team led by an incredibly lovely Head of Buying that’s keen to help you develop your buying career. The role offers a salary of £30,000 - £34,000 depending on experience, alongside hybrid working (3 days in the office, 2 from home), flexible start times, a very generous staff discount plus other benefits.
