Job Description
The Mastermelt Group is a market leader in the precious metal refining industry, with sites in the UK, Germany, USA and Singapore. Owing to significant growth, we are recruiting for a Development Chemist based at our new laboratory within the Mastermelt Technical Centre in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, UK.
As the Development Chemist you will be responsible for leading the development of a suite of novel PGM (Platinum Group Metal) recycling processes.
Your responsibilities:
· Demonstrate high EHS standards and behaviours for yourself and your co-workers and ensure work is carried out in-line with appropriate risk assessments.
· Evaluate novel hydrometallurgical and pyrometallurgical technologies for the pre-treatment and recovery of precious metals from secondary sources.
· Ability to plan and schedule the required work, generating and interpreting data for assessment of project progress / KPI evaluation, and ensuring regular feedback to stakeholders on progress.
· Be responsible for the delivery of investigations and trials at lab, pilot and plant scale to provide proof-of-concept and scale-up information for the design of new processes.
· Contribute to technology transfer between the development and engineering teams at sites in the UK, Germany and Singapore.
Requirements for the role:
· Degree level qualification in chemistry or a relevant scientific subject with demonstrable development experience or experience in a relevant research and development role.
· Knowledge of hydrometallurgical/pyrometallurgical separation and purification techniques and knowledge of inorganic chemistry
· Excellent project management skills and an ability to work in an environment that necessitates an agile approach to project delivery.
· Highly effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships
· Be self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills and excellent attention to technical detail.
