Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, a specialist provider for mental health, Intellectual Disability (ID), also known as Learning Disability (LD), and children's community services, is seeking an individual with expertise in Genetics to conduct research on psychiatric genetics in people with ID to enhance their care. The role is part-time (2 PA) and based in the learning disability east team, combining clinical work and academic research in partnership with Cornwall Intellectual Disability Equitable Research (CIDER), a collaboration with Plymouth University and the Trust.
Main Duties
1. Conduct research and report findings as per research activities.
2. Perform clinical and administrative duties related to patient care.
3. Accurately record clinical activities.
4. Participate in service and business planning, including annual appraisals.
5. Engage in the Trust's academic programmes, including lectures and seminars.
6. Maintain GMC registration.
7. Participate in annual job plan reviews with relevant managers.
8. Collaborate with local managers and colleagues to ensure efficient service delivery.
9. Adhere to Trust policies and contribute to financial management and service planning.

Job Description & Person Specification
Further details about the role can be obtained through Professor Shankar. The essential qualifications include a Medical Degree and a Post-graduate Qualification in Genetics. Experience in assessing and treating patients with mental health concerns or intellectual disabilities, along with knowledge of clinical genetics, is required. Candidates should also have the ability to critically appraise research and experience in conducting audits. Desirable qualifications include higher degrees such as MD, PhD, MSc, or additional clinical qualifications.
