Ringway is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team supporting the newly awarded Kent County Council Term Maintenance Contract. This is a long‑term, operational highways contract with an initial 14‑year term and potential extension to 21 years, offering exceptional stability and career development opportunities.
This role will suit someone who enjoys working in a hands‑on, delivery‑focused environment, supporting both reactive and capital works, and who values collaboration, quality and long‑term client relationships.
The Role
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in the commercial administration and cost control of highways maintenance and infrastructure works across the Kent network. Working closely with operational teams, supply chain partners and the client, you will support the successful delivery of works under NEC contracts, ensuring value is captured while maintaining strong working relationships.
This is not a desk‑only position – regular site presence will be required to undertake measurements, valuations and to support effective commercial decision‑making.
Key Responsibilities
* Administration of NEC4 contracts, including applications for payment, change control and final accounts
* Measurement of works on site and agreement of valuations with the supply chain
* Management of Early Warnings, Compensation Events and variations
* Cost forecasting, cost‑value reconciliations and financial reporting
* Supporting procurement of subcontractor packages and ongoing commercial management
* Working collaboratively with operations to understand delivery challenges and opportunities
* Maintaining accurate commercial records and reporting in line with contract requirements
* Contributing to developing and embedding a positive, pragmatic commercial culture
About You
We are looking for a Quantity Surveyor who:
* Has experience working within highways, infrastructure, utilities or civil engineering environments
* Has working knowledge of NEC contracts (NEC3 or NEC4 essential)
* Is comfortable working across office, depot and site locations
* Takes a balanced, practical approach to commercial management
* Communicates confidently with operational teams, supply chain and client stakeholders
* Is keen to develop within a long‑term contract environment
Candidates do not need to come solely from highways – those with strong NEC experience from utilities or wider infrastructure are encouraged to apply.
What’s on Offer
* Permanent role on a long‑term, secured contract
* Competitive salary (dependent on experience)
* Strong support from senior commercial leadership
* Clear opportunities for development and progression as the contract grows
* A collaborative, delivery‑focused working environment
