Job Description:
We are working on a fantastic opportunity for a Solicitor to join a law firm based in Edinburgh. The successful candidate will be newly qualified (NQ) to 3 years PQE, with experience in private client and trusts, and an eagerness to work towards STEP qualification.
Skills/Experience:
* NQ – 3 years PQE
* Experience dealing with high-net-worth individuals in private client work (desirable)
* Experience handling trusts
* Commercially focused with effective workload management
* Goal to exceed team and client expectations
* Working towards or willing to start STEP qualifications
* Excellent written and oral interpersonal skills
* Ability to build professional relationships with clients and third parties
* High accuracy and attention to detail
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Core Responsibilities:
* Advise high-net-worth clients and family businesses on asset protection
* Assist families in choosing appropriate asset structures (trusts, partnerships, family investment companies)
* Draft legal documentation related to family/business governance, asset protection, succession, tax planning, and mediation
* Support clients with tax planning, collaborating with tax advisors and accountants
* Develop succession plans alongside wills and estate planning
* Assist family business clients with business continuity, conflicts, family dynamics, and philanthropic objectives
* Manage own caseload proactively, supporting team workflows
* Resolve client issues professionally
* Achieve or surpass individual financial targets
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of private client law and participate in relevant training
* Collaborate with other professionals (accountants, wealth planners, tax advisers, lawyers)
* Build and expand your professional network and promote the firm externally
* Contribute articles and blogs for the firm's website and publications
* Foster strong internal relationships, support senior colleagues, and advise colleagues with different specialisms
