GENERAL COUNSEL – UPSTREAM OIL AND GAS LONDON PERMANENT ROLE Role Overview: Morgan Philips Specialist Recruitment are presently representing a leading independent oil and gas exploration and production company in their search for a General Counsel. Reporting to the global CEO and being part of the company executive committee, the successful candidate will lead the global legal function and have overall responsibility for company-wide legal matters. Key Accountabilities: Lead and develop a global team of 10 legal professionals Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements, including joint venture agreements, farm-in/farm-out agreements, drilling contracts, and service agreements. Lead the company’s legal risk management strategy, identifying emerging legal issues and advising on proactive solutions. Lead on legal due diligence, structuring, and documentation for M&A activity, asset sales, and acquisitions. Lead on any litigation and/or arbitration matters which may arise working with external counsel as needed. Handle any key general legal requirements of the business in fields such as employment law, corporate governance and company secretarial matters. Work closely with company leadership providing counsel on key business decisions and objectives. About You: A UK qualified solicitor with significant post qualified experience. A combination of working with a reputable law firm and then in house is desirable. Upstream oil and gas experience is essential. An ambitious, high energetic team player. Experience of team managing, growing and developing a legal team. A good educational background with a degree from a well reputed university.
