Set in the beautiful county of Staffordshire, Tamworth is a vibrant town with rich heritage. Located in the centre of Britain, with a growing population of over 77,000 people, Tamworth is a borough with much to be proud of. Our transport links, unique shopping experience, developing town centre, green spaces, leisure offer, including our cultural and outdoor events programme, as well as heritage buildings, all help make it a great place to live, work, study, and visit.

In addition to all that Tamworth already has to offer, exciting times are ahead with significant transformation projects. The Future High Street Fund development aims to bring lasting change and improvements, restoring Tamworth town centre as the community's heart—a place people want to visit.

Working for Tamworth Borough Council is more than just a job; it’s about making life better for the people in the Borough. We value our skilled and ambitious workforce in a positive environment, empowered to do their best.

The Council has an exciting opportunity for a Social Housing Manager; reporting to the Programme Director, this role will support our journey to demonstrate how tenants and leaseholders remain central to service improvement. Following the Social Housing (Regulation) Act 2023, the Council aims to ensure its housing stock of over 4,300 homes, serving over 5,500 tenants and leaseholders, supports the vision Building a Better Tamworth.

The programme has made significant progress over 12 months, including establishing a governance structure, Housing Advisory Board, self-assessment against consumer standards, and improvements in asset compliance. The role focuses on preparing for inspections—procurement of external support, communication of highlights, and supporting the wider leadership team in updating performance frameworks.

We seek someone passionate about social housing, with a clear understanding of the housing landscape and the Regulator’s role. Key skills include presentation, communication, and the ability to work with staff to enable transformational change. This role suits an aspiring housing professional, graduate, or someone with transferable skills and a proactive attitude.

Our benefits include flexible working, a non-contributory health scheme, Local Government pension, generous holiday, discounted gym memberships, and professional fee payments where applicable. Appointment is subject to references, right to work, medical clearance, and DBS check.

For an informal discussion, contact Tina Mustafa, Programme Director, at 07773538040. To apply, visit Tamworth BC Jobs. Late applications or CVs will not be accepted. Agencies need not apply. For queries, contact recruitment@tamworth.gov.uk.
