Every person deserves the right to access meaningful education. As a Teacher, you'll deliver personalised learning programs to neurodiverse young adults (ages 16 to 25), ensuring they receive the best educational opportunities.
We encourage creativity in teaching, allowing you to design engaging lessons tailored to each learner's interests—whether incorporating hobbies or exploring new ways to make learning fun. Our curriculum follows the Post-16 Study Programme model, including work experience, life skills activities, and functional skills like Maths and English, to prepare learners for adulthood.
Visit our college to experience teaching in a SEND environment. With small class sizes of 5-7 learners, you'll build strong, meaningful connections.
Some learners may face social and emotional challenges; your role will include helping them develop essential life skills, communication, and emotional expression through a neurodiverse-affirming curriculum. Our college supports a total communication environment and collaborative work across the campus.
We provide training and support to help you succeed, including curriculum development, guidance from colleagues, and working with our therapies team.
A day in the life of a Teacher involves:
1. Leading classroom activities, planning, teaching, and assessing learning for your class across various subjects and pathways to adulthood.
2. Monitoring and recording progress academically and against EHCP outcomes.
3. Engaging and motivating learners to reach their potential.
4. Providing learning opportunities in classrooms and community settings, working 1:1 or in small groups.
5. Collaborating with Learning Support Assistants to support learners effectively.
6. Developing bespoke curricula for individual learners, adapting teaching styles to their independence or employment goals.
7. Recognizing when learners' progress is at risk and seeking ways to improve support.
To be a successful Teacher, you’ll need:
1. Patience, compassion, and resilience to support neurodiverse learners with varied behaviors and communication needs.
2. Excellent communication skills for engaging with learners, parents, and stakeholders, and sharing resources effectively.
3. Involvement in EHCPs and curriculum shaping based on individual target outcomes.
4. Flexibility and adaptability to handle changing daily circumstances.
5. A genuine interest in educating people with diverse needs.
In return, you’ll receive:
1. Holiday pay for 42.4 weeks of the year, with paid leave during the 9.6 weeks of term breaks.
2. Pension scheme contributions (your 5% and our 3%).
3. Opportunities for learning and development.
4. Discounts via Blue Light Card and employee benefits platform.
5. Wellbeing support, including mental health resources, confidential check-ins, and group sessions.
6. Cycle2Work scheme for purchasing bikes at a discount.
7. Coverage of DBS check costs.
8. After 12 months, eligibility for Medicash, life assurance (x2 salary), and high street discounts.
Note: Successful applicants will undergo pre-employment checks, including DBS and social media screening, as part of our safer recruitment process.
We pride ourselves on a diverse, inclusive workforce where all team members can bring their true selves without fear of discrimination.
