Join our dynamic and multidisciplinary Water Team as an Associate Process Engineer in one of our rapidly growing Scotland offices (Glasgow, Edinburgh, Perth and Inverness) while enjoying a flexible hybrid working model.
What you’ll do
* Deliver: Develop and check process flow diagrams, mass balance calculations, PID's, process control, operating and control philosophy, FDS documents and associated principles. Undertake survey and assessments of existing process/equipment (asset surveys); conduct site visits as required.
* Quality: Produce and review client deliverables, make key technical decisions and identify when specialist input from the greater team is needed. Ensure all technical documents and data are prepared and structured in accordance with relevant design standards and legislation.
* Collaborate: Work with clients and AECOM counterparts to ensure stakeholder buy‑in to solutions, contributing to AECOM’s wider technical capability and innovative approach.
* Mentor: Delegate tasks, direct and oversee the work of others and act as a technical mentor to more junior staff.
* Lead: Represent AECOM in technical meetings with clients and work with engineers from other disciplines, ensuring an integrated solution.

Qualifications
1. Degree (or equivalent) in Chemical Engineering.
2. Chartered Engineer status with IChemE or CIWEM.
3. Extensive experience in water treatment, managing the technical delivery of large‑scale engineering projects; water treatment process design and optimisation using appropriate Water Company standards and specifications.
4. Extensive experience leading Feasibility, Optioneering Studies and Detailed Design for water treatment processes.
5. Ability to mentor, check and verify.
6. Key contributor to proposals and winning work.
7. Knowledge of the HAZOP process and procedures and preferably DSEAR (Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmosphere Regulations) and their application to typical water treatment processes.
